Rothschild Bird was created in 1860 for the Baron and Baroness de Rothschild, one of Europe's well known families. Rothschild Bird is considered by many connoisseurs to be the paragon of hand painting on porcelain. Rothschild Bird is available in twelve different bird motifs, all depicting the legend of how the Baroness lost her necklace in her Vienna garden, making it one of Herend's most collectible patterns.
