THE DESIGNERS AT SCULLY & SCULLY CATER TO EVERY STYLE
For Generations, Scully & Scully has been where the stylish flock for China to adorn their dining room tables or furnishings to grace their grand apartments. The Park Avenue showroom, where the canary yellow walls and deep emerald green carpeting perfectly complement the store's rich English decor, offers a breath of fresh air. The store's unique walls are so well known, in fact, that store manager Marie Norton keeps a paint swatch on hand so adoring customers can transfer the distinct hue to their own homes.
Fortunately, Scully & Scully's offerings expand far beyond the color on their walls. With two senior interior decorators on staff, the sky's the limit for those who wish for the complete Scully & Scully lifestyle. For some clients, that means duplicating the store's every last decorated detail. "One client came in and said, `We already have yellow walls and green carpet-now where do we go from here?"' recalls Jonathan Tait, a designer with the company. Though Tait and fellow interior designer Lisa Caceci have the entire store as their playground, they also utilize extensive outside resources to create each client's picture perfect fantasy.
"We have clients who want more than the traditional Scully & Scully English look," Caceci says. "We not only work with their own taste, but also with what they already have:" Whether it is a client who has international inspirations or someone who prefers a touch of modern flair, the design team is flexible enough to adapt to any style of gracious living.
"One client wanted all the formal period furnishings typical of Scully & Scully, but combined with his collection of modern artwork," says Tait. In another example of versatility Caceci recently incorporated Chinese elements into the rooms of a New York apartment.
In addition to their flexibility with various genres, Scully & Scully's clients transcend the boundaries of New York. Caceci and Tait's international clientele range from those residing on Park Avenue to clients in more far-off locations. "I'm designing for a client with a palace in Turkey;" says Caceci. "They loved the feeling of the store and wanted to incorporate the style into several rooms of their palace."
Not satisfied with simply combining the signature Scully & Scully look with each client's own stylistic fingerprint, the design team also strives to balance quality with value and service. Both Caceci and Tait note that many clients continually trust their work and hire them to decorate their second and third homes as well. Caceci is quick to point out the satisfaction gained from happy clients: "At the end of the day, when a client is thrilled by what we create, it makes our job meaningful.
