Daum Crystal Maternity by Jon Decelles, Limited Edition $2,750
Jon DeCelles started to sculpt on little stones with a simple steak knife. He loved sculpting faces and was so passionate by his art that he took sculpture courses, which led to his recognition by experts. After twenty years of sculpting, Jon DeCelles’ found that the realistic faces he loved to depict were now evolving into abstract ones – the artist now sculpts monumental abstract pieces, as well as miniatures barely measuring an inch. He uses soapstone, alabaster, marble and granite and selects each stone himself. For Maternity, Jon DeCelles was inspired by the birth of his sons and the softness and the comfort of a mother's arm can provide a child. Both the mother and the child have their eyes closed, as if frozen in this moment of blissful eternity. His sculptures are full of tenderness and sensuality and incite a sense of calming and contemplative atmosphere.

When asked about her work and using crystal as medium, she is quoted to have said the following:
‘‘When Daum came into my life, I realized that the light and the elusive colours of the sky were made possible to carve. How could I have resisted? I confided my first sculptures impatiently to see how my earth, so heavy and full, could have color, transparency and light… It was so beautiful yet so different…so began our collaboration.
