Long-legged and long-necked, the heron is a coastal freshwater bird that boasts expert fishing skills. Its narrow, sharp beak makes is a walking harpoon capable of spearing even small, quick fish with ease. One of its more distinctive behaviors includes its "canopy" hunting technique, in which its wingspan is folded around the front of its body to minimize the glare reflected by the water's surface so that it may better see the prey that swims in the shallow waters of its hunting grounds. Rendered here in exquisitely multicolored detail featuring the iconic fish scale pattern and 24k gold accents, this Reserve Heron With Fish by the master artisans at Herend depicts the moment after the Heron's successful hunt. Handmade and hand painted in Hungary. Limited edition of 150.
