Completely handmade and handpainted on both sides by one family in Germany since 1796 with traditional techniques. Every figurine is individually cast from a mold that was carefully engraved in slabs of slate. Each mold's "life" is limited to about one thousand castings after which a new mold has to be carved to ensure the quality and richness of even the tiniest detail. Because each piece is handpainted by individual artists, colors may vary slightly from the image shown.

English style chairs are handcrafted of mahogany before being handpainted a rich ebony color with an ornate chinoiserie design. The seats are rattan, topped with soft cushions featuring off-white velvet covers that are zippered in back to remove for dry cleaning. The rear legs are sabers, while the front two are round tapered legs terminating in spade feet.

19th century Portuguese designer Bordallo Pinheiro founded his own earthenware company in 1884, which still creates collections based on original designs, under the guiding values of Vista Alegre. The charming Cabbage collection beautifully captures the timeless Pinheiro aesthetic in handcrafted, richly detailed earthenware. This collection brings nature, joy and humor to your table. Cabbage, in its rough and flat form, could be used as a metaphor for Portugal’s rustic ways, which Bordallo had so many times caricatured. This was a clever way to honour it, placing it on the bourgeois’ tables, where otherwise it would never have been invited. Handmade and decorated in Portugal.
