For the North: the King and Queen are President and Mrs. Abraham Lincoln. The Bishops are General Ulysses S. Grant and a Colonel. For the South: the King and Queen are President and Mrs. Jefferson Davis. The Bishops are Generals Robert E. Lee and Jeb Stuart. For both sides: the Rooks are flags, the Knights are ponies with flags, and the Pawns are infantry.

Measures 15⅜" square x 2¾" h.
