The ivory clock face features black Arabic numerals and a brass 8-day key-wound movement that can chime on the quarter hour, strike Westminster chimes on the full hour, and be quietened overnight.

Item was well packed, but key was not in the location stated in the enclosed instructions--it was taped to the inside packing box. Almost discarded the box after unpacking. Cabinet and wood work is very well done and attractive. This is the feature that caught my eye in the Scully and Scully catalog. The fact that it was a German Hermle mechanism, convinced me to make the purchase. Opening the face has to be done gently, as the latch is tight and the hinge mechanism is a bit wobbly. Likewise, closing it has to be done gently as well, as the fit is very tight. Not the best designed mechanism for an expensive mantel timepiece. The latch to the back door has a bit of play, but otherwise closes well. Set up was straight-forward and keeps time well and chimes are delightful.

Lovely and Elegant mantle clock

This mantle clock is elegant and classy. The clock’s weight is sturdy, the wood and decorative accents are warm and lovely, and the Arabic numerals are clean and modern. The tintinnabulation of the chimes are clear and the volume pitch perfect. I highly recommend this clock.
