    Assorted Pieces

Jérôme Mesnager, graduate of the Boulle school is an urban artist. In 1983, he created "Corps Blanc",  symbol of light, strength and peace, which is on the walls of Paris and cities around the world.

For this collaboration with Daum, artist Jérome Mesnager has created a series of abstract human figures engraved in blocks of crystal. While one façade is perfectly polished and smooth, the other is rough and uneven like wood, Mesnager's preferred medium. This work of art marries the delicate nature of crystal with the rough-hewn texture of natural materials. In this particular piece, "Love Dance," the white silhouettes strike a poetic contrast against the luminous amber color of the background and the transparency of the crystal, creating an illusion of infinite space.

    Daum Crystal Kongo, Limited Edition
Daum Crystal Kongo, Limited Edition $2,770

    Assorted Colors

Street art or urban art was born in France in 1968. This contemporary artistic movement traces its origin to the graphic disciples that varies from comics to posters.

Cyril Kongo, is a self-taught artist who has established himself over the period of 20 years, in the artistic field and the French culture, both in Europe and worldwide. His mastery of discipline and his membership in the mythic group MAC for over twenty years, have made him one of the major representatives of the graffiti world.

During an artistic encounter on the streets of Paris one summer evening, Daum was fascinated by the demonstration of Kongo, and decided to give a new dimension to this art, crystallizing the iconic object of this universe  of the spray-paint can.

For Daum, Kongo has created Singapore with love, Paris with love and New York with love, three spray-paint cans which are made of colored crystal, with a spray tip in gold. The artist makes each piece unique by personalizing it one by one. This association of Daum's "pâte de cristal" and the colorful universe of Kongo seems obvious. Live the life you love, love the life you live, is the philosophy that the well-known graffitist tries to communicate through his works. With Daum, Kongo has found an astonishing medium to express his art.

Each Daum crystal piece is made using the rare and ancient "Pâte de Verre" glassmaking technique, which dates back to 5,000 BC and involves melting many fragments of colored crystal within a mold. This results in intense colors and subtle shading. Handmade in France.

Daum Crystal Daumot 163 by Kriki, Limited Edition
Daum Crystal Daumot 163 by Kriki, Limited Edition $13,840

Kriki, born in 1965 at Issy-Les-Moulineaux, lives and works in Paris. In 1984, Kriki founded a group of painters called Nuklé-Art. With the street and the underground as his art school, he was involved in the beginnings of what is now known as ‘‘Street Art’’. Kriki clearly belongs to the generation whose sensibility expresses itself in Free Figurative Art, which he helps to renew.

In 1985, Kriki invented a character, “Fuzz”, a half-robot, half-fetish, polymorphous, omnipresent piece, and a true signature of the artist. Its emblematic head would sit on the shoulders of the Daumot 163 robot.

Kriki describes his art saying, ‘‘My passion for robots and robotics in general has always been there. Robot toys in particular, made of silk-screened metal of the 60s have always fascinated me, and it is what I collect. I have always been amazed, moved even, by the sophisticated manual work and the French know-how, which radiates throughout the world. On site, at the Daum crystal manufacturer, I reconnected somehow with passion to the arts and craft, in which I find myself. Moreover, as a painter, the exploitation of the colored pigments and their richness, speak to me. This part of liberty in the final interpretation of the alchemy of colors, as well as their intensity, simultaneously retained and returned by the crystal, is why I sought to fusion the material with light in designing the Daumot 163. And if Daumot 163 - and I must admit - is a dream come true, it nevertheless remains that living sign and marker that perpetuates the fusion of contemporary art and the French know-how represented by this Nancy manufacturer, nourished by its many artistic collaborations. I like the idea that a robot, which does not exist in a natural state, embodies technical intelligence, skill, mastery, ingenuity, and even virtuosity that still characterizes the art pieces stamped by Daum today’’.

Martyn Lawrence Bullard is a multiaward winning interior designer renowned for his broad range of styles and eclectic, yet sophisticated and inviting interiors. Martyn’s extraordinary attention to detail and commitment to quality have won him international acclaim. His collaboration with Daum for an interior design chandelier was therefore self-evident. When asked about his work he stated the following:

‘‘The chandelier came about from a desire to highlight the beauty of Daum crystal’s intensely layered color and depth. I felt this was best shown when light floods through the crystal. From that knowledge I built up the idea of a beautiful chandelier where the crystal could be seen at its most magnificent. For the Eden chandelier my ideas came from the temptation of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. The very idea that Daum crystal is so tempting it becomes irresistible. The most delicious of sculptures, a bright rosy red apple, is buried within the leaves glowing temptingly and becomes the surprise and completion of this creation"

Daum Crystal Vol de Mon Amour by Luo Li Rong, Limited Edition
Daum Crystal Vol de Mon Amour by Luo Li Rong, Limited Edition $39,150

Luo Li Rong, born in 1980 in Hunan (China), is an artist-sculptress who graduated in 2005 with high honors from the prestigious Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) in Beijing. Her graduation project received numerous awards. During this period, she participated in multiple public sculpting projects, most notably for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, which had been installed in Da Lian Park from 2003.

Now living in Europe, she has seen a rising recognition and appreciation of her art from international galleries and collectors. In the presence of her works the spectator is immediately touched by the extreme delicacy of the modelling and the great sensuality that emanates from it. This mastery, as remarkable as it may be, disappears, however, in favor of the expression of its subject. The artist invites us not to remain at the stage of fascination with forms and appearances, but rather to go further still towards the spirit of the model. Thus, the veils, the passage of the wind in the hair echo, above all, the inner world of the subject.

The draperies and the look, movements incredibly alive, as if they had just been seized in the moment, are for Luo Li Rong a door ajar on the dimension of eternity present in the human form.

Each Daum crystal piece is made using the rare and ancient "Pâte de Verre" glassmaking technique, which dates back to 5,000 BC, involves melting many fragments of colored crystal within a mold. This results in intense colors and subtle shading. Handmade in France. Limited edition of 25.
