The silver plated coaster in the Malmaison pattern is designed to hold wine and water bottles as well as carafes and protect the table from condensation rings. One of Christofle's most historic patterns, Malmaison typifies the Empire style, with its frieze of delicate palm and lotus leaves and symmetrical design. The name is a nod to the Chateau de la Malmaison, a favored Parisian residence of Napoleon Bonaparte and Empress Josephine. Malmaison, one of Christofle's most historic patterns, is in the Empire style. The frieze of delicate palm & lotus leaves is typical of this style.
