The decor revisits the ceramic motifs of the 16th Century Ottoman Empire which were themselves inspired by the Ming dynasty. This predilection of Ottoman princes’ is referenced in the cobalt blue and white which accentuate the depth of the scrolls and variety of flowers: marigolds, tulips, roses and more, decorated on fine Limoges porcelain. Handmade in France.

A lovely lovely plate

I put the plate in a plate-holder so I can see it a lot. The colors are darker than the picture and not as varied but in reading about Bernardaud I realize each piece is hand-painted so there are variations. I love the design and in some light the color comes off as deep purple.
