First created in 1860 for the Rothschild family, many connoisseurs consider this pattern to be the epitome of hand painting on porcelain. The 19th century tale about Baroness Rothschild losing a pearl necklace in her Vienna garden is translated into an elegant jardiniere. The base and stem are decorated with luscious porcelain strawberries, berries, and greenery, culminating in an openwork basket that highlights the technical skills of Herend artisans. The base of the basket, of course, features one of the eponymous Rothschild Birds. Handmade and handpainted porcelain from Hungary with 24k gold accents.
