Michel Coste has a highly original and unique approach to art: carving directly into stone. Known also for his passion for writing, Coste handcrafted the Aurora with his favorite elements at play – the silhouette of a woman frozen in amber pâte de cristal, where the interaction between light, transparency and opacity is highlighted as much as the softness of her curves. The fact that the woman is seen in a delicate crouched pose, while elevated on a wooden stand further adds dimension & texture to the crystal.

Each Daum crystal piece is made using the rare and ancient "Pâte de Verre" glassmaking technique, which dates back to 5,000 BC, involves melting many fragments of colored crystal within a mold. This results in intense colors and subtle shading. Handmade in France. Limited ediiton of 375.
