Arman was a co-founder of the Nouveau Réalisme group in postwar France, which unified around a neo-Dadaist notion of “new perspective approaches of reality". Many of Arman's early works were posed in critique of art informel and Abstract Expressionism. The subject distorted in form, yet retaining its full meaning & symbolism through specific elements, is one of the many approaches Arman used to create his work. The combination of solid brass with the moulded Daum crystal creates a multi-textured and multidimensional element, that further enhance the interplay between light & congruency of the angles presented on the sculpture. Each Daum crystal piece is created using the rare and ancient "Pâte de Verre" method, which involves melting colored crystal fragments within a mold, resulting in unique and intense colors against a subtly shaded background. Handmade in France. Limited edition of 125.
