A magnificent sizable sculpture from the limited edition releases of Daum Crystal. The artist and the visionary behind the masterpiece, Arman, was a co-founder of the Nouveau Réalisme group in postwar France, which unified around a neo-Dadaist notion of “new perspective approaches of reality". The grand sculpture of the female form, where the subject is distorted in form, while the entity is whole in its meaning & symbolism, is a representation of one of his many approaches to his work. The combination of tranchlucide, moulded clear Daum crystal and sterling silver make a bold statement from the first moment that one lays their eyes on the sculpture, while the overall curvature and smooth lines created with crystal to represent the concaveness of a woman's form add a dimension of delicateness and fragility, which counterbalances the pert introduction. Together these somewhat opposing yet synchronious elements emanate a unified theme, where the bold front balances the vulnerability of the form. Daum crystal creates a multi-textured and multidimensional element, that further enhance the interplay between light & congruency of the angles presented on the sculpture. Each Daum crystal piece is created using the rare and ancient "Pâte de Verre" method, which involves melting colored crystal fragments within a mold, resulting in unique and intense colors against a subtly shaded background. Handmade in France. Limited edition of 8.
