Dominique Dardek is a self-taught artist, who's known for his many talents including sculpting, painting and designing. Since 1984 he has participated in a number of exhibitions in the West of France and won awards for his work. His sculptures are works that display spatial correctness, aestheticism and dynamism – especially important for him is the suppleness and balance behind movement during exherted effort. Dardek created this piece for Daum, where a meeting between a man and a woman takes place in a different new universe and the encounter is forever crystallized in time, both figuratively and literally. The scultpure speaks to the promise that love holds for new beginnings and new paths.
When asked about the piece, the artist further explained his intentions saying, "This piece symbolizes the creation of a couple in our world, passing form a virtual universe to reality. The combination of crystal and bronze confers another dimension, whereby the tendency is towards separation from materiality."
Each Daum crystal piece is made using the rare and ancient "Pâte de Verre" glassmaking technique, which dates back to 5,000 BC, involves melting many fragments of colored crystal within a mold. This results in intense colors and subtle shading. Handmade in France. Limited edition of 25.
