When asked about Lady Ginkgo, the artist Maria Luise Bodirsky has said,

"Inspired by the verses of Goethe’s poem, I looked into the duality of the Ginkgo biloba. Since always, this tree symbolises beauty, strength, vitality and eternal youth. Its leaf that is split in two represents friendship and unity in the couple. My Lady Ginkgo is full of appeal, elegance and her silhouette has the lightness of a ballerina. Like a leaf falling on the ground in autumn, she evokes at the same time beauty and detachment, liberty and end.’’ Each Daum crystal piece is made using the rare and ancient "Pâte de Verre" glassmaking method, which dates back to 5,000 BC. It involves melting many fragments of colored crystal within a mold, resulting in intense colors against a subtle background. Handmade in France. Limited edition of 250.
